"Our 116 year old
monument needs your help. The memory of the 9,000 veterans and of the women of
the Soldiers' Aid Society of Northern Ohio who ran the relief society needs to be preserved not only in marble but also in our hearts and the hearts of our children. Education of the heart programs cannot be paid for by the State or County. This money must come from all of us contributing from our sense of what is needed to shape the future. We need to train docents; we need to show the Monument and explain its meaning to school children; we need to establish a speaker's bureau; we need to make a series of documentary films about the Monument and its impact on our community. There is much to be done. That is why we formed a support group for the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument. Please join us in helping to preserve and enhance the meaning of the Monument and to deliver its message to the community, state and nation. |
